The kings hold the center
Two kings are the only pieces on the board at launch.

Exoplanet Chess changes the opening position, not the identity of chess. With two kings on the board at the beginning and every other piece off-board, every match begins as a fresh mission in timing, placement, and possibility.

Two kings are the only pieces on the board at launch.
Every other piece waits off-board until its player selects the right moment to bring it in.
Any reserve piece can be placed on an empty square in your half of the board. Each open square becomes a strategic landing zone.
The Exoplanet idea
Traditional chess begins with a fixed formation. Exoplanet Chess begins with a question: which piece earns its place first?
That one change creates a more open, imaginative start while keeping the familiar movement, captures, and checkmate that make chess timeless.
Mission playbook
Observe
Before deploying, look at the two kings, the open files, and the territory each player can claim.
Deploy
Bring any reserve piece onto an empty square in your half of the board whenever it is needed, then prepare its next move.
Advance
Once deployed, every piece moves, attacks, and captures according to standard chess rules.
Conquer
Captured pieces leave play permanently, castling is unavailable, and checkmate ends the mission.
